Owning a château comes with many of its own unique challenges, many of them related to cleaning. Just before we were to have our first family guests visit, Karen awakened a sleeping fly infestation! Rooms could not be let before that little (read HUGE) problem was sorted. We overcame. Our family enjoyed their stay. Then shortly after, we had our first B&B guests who were driving down the road, saw our sign, slammed on the brakes and came to be our first patrons. They were the nicest sort of people. French romantics who loved our château, slept like stones in their room (Margrethe) and were nothing but gracious. Aside from our less-than-perfect readiness on the breakfast front, we could not have asked for a better induction into the world of bed & breakfast ownership.
